Stress, particularly work-related stress, has aroused growing interest across Europe and America in recent years. Stress is considered a causal factor in many diseases. Stress can have an impact on health but the necessary action is not taken yet to prevent stress-induced disorders by Bangladeshi people. There has been no recognized literature on stress and its impact on different neurodegenerative diseases from Bangladesh. The current study provides significant information to identify psychological risk factors for adverse public health. The comprehensive study was conducted using prospective data from a population-based survey in Khilgoan Dhaka and MBSTU Campus, Tangail of Bangladesh. Here, randomly selected 162 interviewees were stratified by age, gender, occupation and level of education. Information was collected through semi-structured questionnaires; transect walks, oral interviews and focus groups discussions. The relationship between stress and different neurodegenerative disorders, in particular, the pathophysiological significance of stress in Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, heart disease and schizophrenia was investigated. Using data mining approach some significant patterns and a decision tree algorithm was ascertained and both were used for implementing stress risk prediction tool. These are briefly described in the result section. The present study supported the notion that stress has a major impact on the diseases and various pathophysiological processes associated with neurodegenerative disorders. Further studies into any causal relationship between stress and health consequences, as well as anticipatory public health consequences are planned for reducing stress in the Bangladeshi population. Implemented prediction tool will help the people to find out stress-induced information.
