Cognition across different frequencies

A brief introductory presentation will cover the old hypotheses and the new evidence about the evolutionary roots and functional roles of different brain rhythms ranging from ultra-slow oscillations to high gamma band activity and the involvement of each oscillatory state in pathological processes such as parkinsonian tremor or epilepsy and their importance for normal cognitive processes in the mammalian brains. The talk will set the stage for discussions of how cross frequency coupling between different oscillatory states might facilitate pathological and or cognitive processes in the human brain.
