Event Abstract

Dopamine, Cognition, and Human Aging: Emerging Evidence and Ideas

  • 1 Karolinska Institutet SE-171 77 Stockholm , Sweden

Age-related dopamine (DA) losses have been associated with cognitive deficits in old age. In this presentation, I discuss several recent lines of research on the aging-DA cognition link. These include: (a) the magnification of genetically determined effects of DA on executive functioning in aging; (b) the influence of DA on intraindividual cognitive variability; (c) age-related constraints on DA modulation during cognitive performance; and (d) DA release and cognitive plasticity.
