Frontiers in Psychology is an open access journal that aims at publishing the best research across the entire field of psychology. Today, psychological science is becoming increasingly important at all levels of society, from the treatment of clinical disorders to our basic understanding of how the mind works. It is highly interdisciplinary, borrowing questions from philosophy, methods from neuroscience and insights from clinical practice - all in the goal of furthering our grasp of human nature and society, as well as our ability to develop new intervention methods. The journal thus welcomes outstanding contributions in any domain of psychological science, from clinical research to cognitive science, from perception to consciousness, from imaging studies to human factors, from animal cognition to social psychology.

The Specialties of Frontiers in Psychology welcome the following
tier 1 article types: Book Review, Clinical Case Study, Clinical Trial, Editorial, General Commentary, Hypothesis & Theory, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective, Review, Specialty Grand Challenge and Technology Report.
When submitting an article to Frontiers in Psychology, authors must submit the material directly to one of the Specialties. The articles are processed by the associate and review editors of the respective Specialty.
Original research articles published through the Specialties will be subjected to the
Frontiers Evaluation System after online publication. Authors of the
original research articles with the highest impact, as judged by many expert readers, will be invited by the Field Chief Editor of Frontiers in Psychology to write a prestigious Frontiers
Focused Review - a tier 2 article. This is referred to as "
democratic tiering". The author selection is based on article-level impact metrics of Original Research published in the Frontiers Specialties. Focused Reviews are centered on the original discovery, place it in a wider context, and aim to address the wider audience across all of Psychology.
