The biggest problem of today's knowledge society is to cope with the huge amount of information accumulated each second. The volume of research is so vast (over 35.000 papers in neuroscience alone, per year) that the research community itself and the public need a quality assured, globally evaluated and filtered view of the major breakthroughs in research carried out on earth. This distillation will be achieved by merging a Tier Publishing System with the reader-based Frontiers Evaluation System. The top articles among all specialties will be published in the second-tier Frontiers in Neuroscience hard-copy journal. The research papers that succeeded to reach this higher tier publication will be among those that have been selected by the most global and unbiased evaluation system possible. Those research papers will be invited to be revised in their layout and language to address the general Neuroscience community.
