Brief Biography
Dr. Tamas is associate professor at the University of Szeged in Hungary. He received his Ph.D. in neuroscience in 1997 from Jozsef Attila University in Szeged. He did postdoctoral work as European Blaschko Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Oxford. He holds a European Young Investigators Award, is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow, and is a Janos Bolyai Research Scholar. In 2002, he received the Hungarian Electron Microscopy Prize and the Krieg Cortical Explorer Prize; in 2006, he was a finalist for the Eppendorf and Science Prize for Neurobiology. Gabor Tamas`s HHMI-supported research focuses on the function of electrophysiologically and anatomically identified molecules, subcellular compartments, and small neuronal networks.
