What information do we collect?
In order to provide you with our services, we may collect and keep a record of personal information about you from our website. If you opt to register we will ask for, and keep, certain personal information. How will we use your information?
The data collected from use of our website by any user is kept for statistical purposes. The reading activity of registered users is also used for the Democratic Evaluation System, and may be used to provide personalized views and services to you.
The data collected during the registration process is kept for identification purposes and is for Frontiers’ and its licensees’ and subcontractors’ use only (unless you set your privacy settings to allow others to see your information). The data collected may be kept and used by Frontiers and Frontiers’ licensees and subcontractors, as well as Frontiers Research Foundation, a not-for-profit Swiss foundation, inside and outside Switzerland or your country of residence, for non-commercial and commercial purposes. The data collected will not be communicated to other third parties, except Frontiers’ licensees and subcontractors. Frontiers will not sell or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties except as described above.

If you choose to register, please select in your profile which of your personal information (if any) you wish to be visible on Frontiers’ website(s). If you do not make a specific selection of privacy level in your profile, the default settings will be used, which give different protection levels to different types of personal information. In your privacy settings, there are two different levels you can select in terms of privacy regarding your information available online. For any information that you choose to upload in your profile on Frontiers, you can select and modify the level you prefer: Public: the selected information content is visible to anybody visiting the website; Only me: the selected information content is private and visible only to you. You may withdraw, reduce or widen your authorization at any time by notifying your data publicity status in your profile; however the privacy settings selected may affect your ability to fulfill certain functions within Frontiers.
The two levels of privacy described above also apply to any activity you carry out on the Frontiers websites, such as posting material, creating events, etc.
Certain information relating to authors of articles published by Frontiers must be displayed publicly. This is dealt with in the Conditions for Authors.
In common with many other website operators, we may use standard technology called 'cookies' on this site.
