Tiny Plants Could Cut Costs With No Yield Loss

Burkhard Schulz, a Purdue University assistant professor of plant biochemical and molecular genetics, has discovered an affordable way to create dwarf versions of corn that would need much less water, fertilizer and pesticides and resistant to weather extremes. Schulz used a fungicide to inhibit steroid production in the plants, which is what spurs growth. Additionally, the dwarf versions show no loss in yield.
