In the last decades, the fishing environment is subject to increasing pressure from human and industrial activities. The effects have been quickly felt on several species in particular coastal bio-indicative species of pollution as Anemonia sulcata (Pennant, 1777). This Cnidarian species that exists at the subtidal level of the Atlantic coast, begins to be strongly requested in the market.
On the Atlantic coast of Morocco, no work on the sea anemones has been achieved up to now. The lack of scientific knowledge on this resource encouraged to realize a series of campaigns of sampling at the three exploitable sites, namely: El Jadida, Skhirat and Souiria K'Dima during the period of winter and spring 2018. The objectives are 1- the achievement of a prospecting and mapping of natural deposits of Anemonia sulcate; 2- The study of the population dynamics of this species, with a comparison between the three sites in terms of abundance, biomass and biodiversity and 3- The evaluation of the impact of environmental parameters on the resource. A total of 317 specimens were examined with size and weight analyzes: the measurement of the column height (CH), diameter of the column (CD), the diameter of the pedal disc (PDD), the length of the tentacles (TL), the diameter of the oral disc (ODD) and the fresh weight (FW).
The preliminary results of this study show the presence of a positive correlation between the weight and the diameter of the pedal disc (PDD) (R² = 0.780), the column height (CH)
(r² = 0.771), and the diameter of the oral disk (R² = 0.605) in the area of Skhirat. For the population of El Jadida, the weight is positively correlated with the parameters measured. While the weight of individuals collected at Souira K’dima, the correlation remains average with the other measured parameters and does not exceed (R² = 0.647).
