The Neuroimaging Center at the Technische Universität München (TUM-NIC) is an initiative of scientists from different disciplines and backgrounds to promote neuroimaging research at the TUM. They created TUM-NIC as a platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, skills and plans for the future. TUM-NIC is intended to facilitate collaborations across department and faculty boundaries, to further education in neuroimaging techniques and to enhance the impact and visibility of neuroimaging research at the TUM.
TUM-NIC brings together methodological and clinical expertise from a broad variety of disciplines with an outstanding infrastructure. This includes human imaging and electrophysiology instrumentation (several 3T MRI-Scanners, the first integrated whole body MR/PET-scanner, PET/CT and SPECT/CT scanners), modern small animal imaging facilities, a GMP-capable radiochemistry and fully equipped laboratories for neuroimaging tracer-development and evaluation. This environment is enriched by access to unique patient populations with disorders of the central nervous system and the unique capabilities of the TUM, including expertise in engineering and computation, molecular biomarkers, neuroimmunology, genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. We, thus, aim to find answers for a fascinating question: How does the brain subserve human behavior in health and disease
