Vasovagal Syncope complicated by Upper Extremity Myospasm: Presentation, Diagnosis and Applications of Functional Neurology

  • 1 Jaudy Treatment Center, United States

Backgrounds and Aims A 43 year old female presented to our facility in 2108 with severe and prolonged symptoms of syncope that lasted for days at a time. Patient reports that she has been suffering with “fainting episodes” for years which have been getting progressively worse. She mentions that for the past 5 years she has been to several ERs, seen different doctors, done advanced imaging, all of which came out normal, yet she felt like “dying”. She has been to many traditional and holistic treatments but nothing worked. She recounts some of her symptoms including, lightheadedness and fainting, tachycardia, bradycardia, abnormally fast/slow heart rate, chest pains, shortness of breath, stomach upset, shaking, muscle spasm, easily exhausted, cold hands and feet, vertigo, blood pressure instability, digestive disorders, food allergies, general body pain, loss of appetite, pale skin, cold/clammy sweat, feeling warm, swallowing problems, fuzzy thoughts, confusion, inability to speak or form words, weakness and visual disturbances. Methods The patient had undergone a comprehensive neurological examination using standard neurological tests and diagnostics including Orthostattic Blood Pressure Testing, VNG, posturography, and tremorscope. She had orthostatic blood pressure concomitance, sensorymotor deficiencies, in addition to incoordination, irregular body temperatures, cerebellar dysmetria, posterior center of pressure, ocular dysmetria, irregular vertical and horizontal saccades. A slow systemic Functional Neurology and Organ Remapping approach was implemented using various pre and post ganglionic procedures, visual, auditory, vestibular, sensory and motor applications, brain based activities, cerebellar activation, complex therapeutic activities, home instructions and dietary changes and various specific mitochondrial neutraceuticals and phytonutrients. Various applications were administered on daily basis for 3 weeks. Results By the end of the first 4 days all her symptoms stopped and by the end of the third week she regained normal autonomic function. Patient was discharged for one month with prescribed brain activities and home instructions. Patient returned for one week. Today the patient’s symptoms have resolved, and enjoys life with her kids.
