A 47 year old female flew in on Dec 15, 2018, to our associated facility in UAE, complaining of “falling to the left suddenly”, constant fluid retention, chronic fatigue for more than 5 years and gradually getting worse. Her condition is constant and gets worse when she takes any medication. She saw many doctors, specialists, therapists, and other professional, in Europe, South Korea and UAE , did many tests but her condition remained unchanged and gradually worse.
Methods
The patient had undergone a comprehensive neurological examination using standard neurological tests and diagnostics Posturography. She had bilateral sensory and motor deficiencies. Posterior center of pressure. Dual tasking revealed freezing gait. Further testing revealed festination, widening of gait, and left loss of arm swing. The patient had incoordination and retropulsion. The patient had irregular pursuits with saccadic intrusions, Optokinetic testing showed aberrancy of horizontal vs. vertical ocular movement, with loss of upward and downward refixation saccades, and loss of gaze stabilization.
A systemic Functional Neurology approach was implemented using various sensory and motor applications, coupled motion reductions, visual and auditory stimulation, cerebellar activation, complex therapeutic activities, home instructions and dietary changes.
Results
The patient responded favorably from the first visit on 12/17/18. Post first treatment testing showed immediate improvement in motor and sensory function. By the third treatment the patient dual tasking gait improved by 70%. The patient was treated 7 sessions. Patient enjoys life family and friends with no more leftward falls.
