Internet Addiction disorder is considered an important public health problem. As a result, problematic Internet use can be found in any age group, social class, racial or ethnic group, level of education and income, and gender. Numerous surveys have attempted to measure how frequently teenagers use the computer at home. Few studies and inconsistent findings render uncertain whether using the computer has any influence on teenager's social outcomes. Specifically, research questions were developed to investigate various aspects of Internet use among college students. For the purpose of this study, Internet use was described to include the following activities: E-mail, browsing the World Wide Web, Usenet activity, File Transfer Protocols, MUD’s, cybersex, and graphic interactive games. Like all other addictions, Internet addiction is a psychophysiological disorder involving tolerance (the same amount of usage elicits less response; increased amounts become necessary to evoke the same amount of pleasure), withdrawal symptoms (especially, tremors, anxiety, and moodiness), affective disturbances (depression, irritability), and interruption of social relationships (a decline or loss, either in quality or quantity). We found adverse psychological effects of computers use for teens. The only available review of this research concluded that there is evidence that computer use is directly related to any psychological outcomes.Although benefits of computer use have been observed, they typically depend on a variety of factors (e.g., subject matter). A key signal to this would be time spent at the computer, but also time spent thinking about the Internet or in activities related to the Internet.
