Extending the reach of Mental Health Services through eLearning technology and other communication mediums centralized on one Online ePlatform

Mental Health Services (MHS) are severely under resourced in Ireland (and many areas in Europe). There are many reasons why MHS do not reach large segments of the community. The main barriers identified are client proximity and access to out of hours/peak time MHS. In Ireland the taboo of arranging a meeting via one’s local GP or family member and lack of educational & informational knowledge are contributory factors to these service barriers. We have investigated other support services in the past and foreign countries as a base knowledge to build our system.‘PSY4U’ is the name given to the online website which acts as a venue for patients and professional to meet and carry out business. PSY4U is an Online Venue System for Clients and Mental Health Professional to meet and conduct business. The client and mental health professional sign agreement and register on the secure site. They can arrange face to face meetings, use a mobile application which is text based, skype video to video. There is a database of professionals to provide 24/7/365 support and a library and forum for information. Information from the sessions is to be recorded and run through SPSS once collected in our databank server.
