Quality of Governance in Promoting Sustainable Urban Internet Skills

This study aims to analyze community behavior in the context of internet literacy within the socio-cultural sphere, with a specific focus on the role of governance quality. Primary data was collected from 595 respondents in ten regencies in East Java Province, Indonesia, using a two-phase multi-stage sampling method. The study assessed the dimensions of governance quality, including policy, knowledge, expertise, and experience. The findings reveal that the community generally accepts internet literacy as an integral part of socio-cultural interactions. Moreover, the study underscores the significance of governance quality, particularly in terms of policy, knowledge, expertise, and experience, as vital indicators in fostering internet literacy within the community. The study's approach involves a comprehensive analysis of community behavior with a specific focus on governance quality. To sustain healthy internet literacy practices, individuals are encouraged to develop maturity in their internet usage. Additionally, government intervention aimed at promoting responsible and intelligent internet use is deemed crucial. This research highlights the pivotal role of effective governance in the promotion and maintenance of healthy internet literacy practices within society. The study's findings have implications for sustainable urban development and evidence-based policy assessment, particularly in the context of digital literacy and responsible internet use. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the interplay between governance quality and internet literacy within a socio-cultural framework, providing valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders.
