Citizen Science has grown rapidly over the last years in Austria. Since 2015 the platform "Österreich forscht" (www.citizen-science.at) organizes an annual citizen science conference, where researches, practitioners and interested citizens exchange experiences, discuss new methods and connect to each other. Under the motto "Expanding Horizons" the focus of the conference in 2017 was on how people can participate in projects and what is needed to increase participation. Workshops, panel discussion and presentations addressed these questions in various fields of research.
