ISHR 2021 36th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Heart Research European Section

Due to the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 36th Meeting of the International Society for Heart Research - European Section (ISHR-ES) has been held online, from June 30th to July 1st, 2021. The program featured a half-a-day pre-meeting fully dedicated to Early Career Investigators, 4 plenary sessions, 1 Young Investigator Award Session and 24 parallel scientific symposia that covered topics ranging from basic cardiovascular research and cardiac imaging to translational approaches. The meeting counted more than 330 participants from 12 different countries, including 79 speakers, 25 chairs, 86 early career investigators and 99 poster presenters. 106 abstracts have been presented during the poster sessions that addressed the primary themes of the meeting: Mitochondria, cardiac metabolism and diabetes Calcium signalling and arrhythmias Cyclic nucleotide signalling Epigenetics and post-translational protein modifications Cancer and heart failure Cardiac regeneration Microvasculature and pulmonary hypertension Extracellular vesicles and inflammatory mediators Cardioprotection New frontiers in cardiac imaging
