Neuroscience is rapidly becoming one of the world’s largest and most important scientific endeavors. The European FP7 capacity programme has funded a Euro-Mediterranean neuroscience project, aimed at building capacities for mediterranean neurosciences. NEUROMED's main objective is to promote cooperation between EU neurosciences laboratories (France, Italy and Spain) and emerging centers in the Mediterranean Partner Countries (Turkey, Egypt, Algeria and Morocco). NEUROMED is engaged in a number of actions to promote and improve the quality of research in participant labs. The 1st Workshop was held in Marseille, France on January 2010. The 2nd will be held in Fez, Morocco in June 10-12, 2010.
It is oriented towards four main axes of research: 1. Neurodegenerative, mental diseases and neurotoxicity; 2. Neuroplasticity, pain, development, learning and education; 3. Adaptation to environmental stress; & 4. Technological development of new methodologies for neuroscience.
During the workshop, the consortium members will present their reaserch in the form of lectures, short oral presentations or posters. Abstracts of these communications are evaluated by a scientific committee composed of independent external experts.
