Recent preclinical and clinical studies have shown that Endothelial progenitor cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EPC-EVs) have a beneficial therapeutic effect for various diseases, including cardiovascular diseases (CVD), kidneys, and lung (Fig 1). Moreover, some animal studies showed that EPC-EVs selectively accumulate in the injury site with a specific mechanism of binding along with the superior angiogenic and restorative effect of EPC-EVs than the ancestor. This review article highlights current advances in EPC-EVs biogenesis, route of delivery, long-term storage methods, and favorable effects such as anti-inflammatory, angiogenic, and tissue protection on various diseases. Finally, we review the possibility of therapeutic application of EPC-EVs into the clinic.
