The Section on Cellular Neurophysiology publishes rigorously peer-reviewed research that advances our understanding of cellular/molecular mechanisms of neuronal excitability and communication. These include basic neural and neural circuit properties, such as electrical and morphological characterization of excitatory and inhibitory neurons, ionic channel functions, mechanisms for the generation of action potentials, biophysical and biochemical aspects of receptor activation and trafficking, synaptic transmission and plasticity, neuromodulation, dendritic and somatic integration of synaptic signaling, computational modeling, synaptic organization, and plasticity of neural circuits. The Journal also welcomes submissions of high-quality research articles addressing neurophysiological mechanisms in the developing and aging brain, from cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation to synapses, circuit formation, remodeling, and pruning. Studies opening ways for computational modeling are particularly encouraged.
Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
