Methods and Model organisms is devoted to identifying key molecular and cellular players that underlie the structure, design and function of the brain across all levels. This section will focus on the application of genetic engineering (e.g., CRISPR, neuroepigenetic editing, site-specific recombinases), genetic screens, optogenetics, chemogenetics, transcriptomics, and other methods (e.g. imaging, behavioral assays) to gain insight into normal and pathologic brain function. Model systems include vertebrate and invertebrate animals, brain organoids, and induced pluripotent stem cell-based approaches.
