Abstract

Drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) is a major challenge in current clinical practice, and there is an urgent need for new treatment strategies. Studies suggest that the cerebellum holds promise as a key therapeutic target for neuromodulation; however, large-scale randomized controlled trials to validate this remain lacking. Therefore, this article reviews the mechanisms by which the cerebellum is involved in epilepsy treatment and the research progress on various neuromodulation techniques, providing both theoretical and practical grounds for establishing the cerebellum as a new therapeutic target for DRE.
