However, the CD155 involved in tumorigenesis and development are not elucidated in cervical cancer. In this study, immunohistochemistry and ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) verified that the expression of CD155 gradually increased with the degree of cervical lesions. In vitro and in vivo, reducing the expression of CD155 can inhibit cell proliferation, cell viability and tumor formation. Furthermore, reducing the expression of CD155 could arrest the cell cycle from G0/G1 to the S phase. Phosphorylated antibody array analysis revealed that knocking down CD155 can inhibit the AKT/mTOR/NF-κB pathway and activate autophagy and apoptosis. Overexpression of CD155 has the opposite result. Besides, AKT knockdown reversed the anti-apoptosis and activation of AKT/mTOR/ NF-κB pathway induced by CD155 overexpression. Our findings indicate that CD155 promotes the progression of cervical cancer through the AKT/mTOR and NF-κB pathways. CD155 could be a potential screening and therapeutic biomarker for cervical cancer.
