Additionally, it explores the mediating role of consumer hopefulness as well as the moderating role of the information integrity consumers perceive. Results show that (1) compared with nonchoice deferral, choice deferral could result in consumers preferring larger-later benefits when making intertemporal choices; (2) consumer hopefulness fully mediates the impact of choice deferral on intertemporal choice preference; and (3) the consumers’ perceived information integrity moderates the latter half of the mediating effect route.
