Background: The shortage of nurses is a global problem,especially in long-term care facilities. We integrate and extend past research exploring the influence of nurse engagement in long-term care facilities and constructed a model of nurse engagement in long-term care facilities. Method: Cross-sectional data were collected from a sample of 494 nurses who completed measures of work engagement, organizational climate, job resources, and emotional intelligence. Results: The results showed that organizational climate increased work engagement among nurses directly and indirectly via job resources. Moreover, emotional intelligence plays moderation role between organizational climate and job resources. Conclusion: These results revealed that a good organizational climate and job resources enable nurses to be more engaged in work,besides, nurses with high emotional intelligence can make better use of resources and improve their engagement.
