Using the job demands-resources model (JD-R), the purpose of the present study is to explore the effect of nurses' psychological capital on the satisfaction of elderly cancer patients, and investigates how nurses' work engagement and job resources influence this relationship during COVID-19 pandemic. Data of this study included 230 elderly cancer patients and their nurses from a class A tertiary cancer hospital in China. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was conducted with SmartPLS 3.3.9. The results show that during the COVID-19 pandemic nurses' psychological capital has a significant positive impact on the satisfaction of elderly cancer patients. Nurses' work engagement is an important mechanism for their psychological capital to affect the satisfaction of elderly cancer patients. In addition, job resources have a positive moderating effect on the relationship between nurses' psychological capital and work engagement.
