Methods A total of 65 patients with COVID-19 in a fever district of a hospital in Wuhan were divided into experimental group and control group based on the ward as a unit.The experimental group established communication between medical staff and patients in WeChat groups on the basis of routine treatment and nursing. Within 48 hours of admission and discharge, Positive and Negative Emotion Scale (PANAS), Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) evaluation scores, as well as hospital stay statistics and satisfaction survey at discharge were conducted for both groups of patients. Results The scores of PANAS and HADS in the experimental group were (26.61±7.99) points and (14.42±5.24) points on admission, (19.58±6.61) points and (11.71±3.64) points on discharge, the difference was statistically significant (t=4.613、3.747,P<0.05); the discharge satisfaction of the two groups of patients were (99.87± 0.34) points and (98.68±1.09) points, the difference was statistically significant (t=5.827, P<0.05). Conclusion Establishing WeChat groups between medical staff and patients with COVID-19 and building a bridge for better communication, improve their positive mentality and compliance with doctors, shorten hospital stay and promote recovery.
