KCNQ-encoded Kv7 channels regulate cellular function in the heart, brain, smooth muscle, skeletal muscle and epithelia. Since they were originally identified 25 years ago, the ubiquitous nature of these channels has been revealed. Additionally, Kv7 proteins have assembly and regulatory features that are unique among potassium channels, and fuelled by the quest for effective anticonvulsants, there is now a large arsenal of Kv7 modulators, which has provided insight into physiological roles as well as offer the potential for therapeutic development.

This Research Topic aims to publish novel and exciting new findings and insights in the field of Kv7 channel research. Research papers and review articles that contribute with new information pertaining to the myriad aspects of Kv7 channel research are welcome for submission.

The papers could focus on (but are not limited to) the following topics:

- Novel physiological and pathophysiological roles of Kv7 channels
- Kv7 channel regulation
- Structural aspects of Kv7 channel function
- Novel interactions and associations
- Kv7 channels in neuropsychiatric disorders
- Emerging pharmacology of Kv7 channels
