Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of RNA viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to severe diseases. The lethal varieties of CoV can cause coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). So Far, there are no vaccines or antiviral drugs to prevent or treat for the infections in humans.

It has been well-recognized that a wide range of bioactive molecules can provide health benefits and possess the therapeutic potential of antivirus, anti-inflammation, immune-regulation, and anti-oxidative stress, and so on.
Theoretically, bioactive molecules may have great potentials for preventing and treating the infections of coronavirus.

The scope of this Research Topic includes Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and all other coronavirus infections.

It aims to explore the knowledge of the potential efficacy and underlying mechanisms of bioactive molecules against CoV with the assistance of modern tools on the following subtopics but not limited to:
- Molecular biology
- High-throughput biology
- Multi-omics research
- Systems pharmacology
- Genome editing technologies
- Nanotechnology

We invite scientists to contribute both Original Research and Review articles to this Research Topic. The fruitful results might be useful and applied to preventing and treating coronavirus infections in the future.
