About this Research Topic
Myocardial infarction is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. While current treatment strategies have improved patient outcomes, the regeneration or reversal of the ischemic myocardium still is an unmet desire. In this regard, the use of stem cells is a promising therapeutic approach with high expectations.
We would like to share research on the topic of how stem cells can be used to treat the ischemic myocardium. Authors may share mechanistic research, pre-clinical research and clinical research.
In this current Research Topic, we seek to collect various research topics on the promising treatment options for the ischemic myocardium. This includes using various cells, such as bone marrow stem cells, peripheral blood stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, or using various modifications in the genetic level etc. We are open to novel treatment options that need further clinical evaluation or clinical trials that have been applied to the patient.
