About this Research Topic
The guidelines for pediatric resuscitation have been updated by the American Heart Association (AHA) in October 2020 and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) in March 2021. Treatment strategies have, therefore, changed. Early high-quality resuscitation for adequate organ perfusion has been emphasized in relation to shock or cardiac arrest children. Furthermore, the significance of pre-hospital and post-resuscitative care (including early high-flow oxygenation or ventilation support, early epinephrine for non-shockable rhythm, and balanced fluid resuscitation) have been demonstrated to be predictably associated with patient survival and neurological outcomes.
Many studies have highlighted changes in resuscitation, however, the aspects of pediatric pre-hospital and post-resuscitative care have not been fully addressed. The aim of this Research Topic is to provide researchers with the opportunity to introduce relevant research studies in this thematic area and thus share the latest insights in the field.
