The Latin American Society of Developmental Biology (LASDB) is a non-profit association, which has as its aim the promotion of the study of developmental biology in Latin America. To achieve this, the LASDB organizes and support scientific meetings, workshops and courses.

This year, the 11th Meeting of the LASDB seeks to bring together its members and invited researchers to present and discuss the most recent advances in the frontiers of the field, together with the Mexican Society of Developmental Biology in a joint meeting. The Mexican Society of Developmental Biology is also a non-profit organization likewise seeking to advance and foster developmental biology in the country.

The meeting also signifies a great opportunity for younger researchers and students to actively interact, exchanging concepts, methodologies, and ideas, being motivated by scientific leaders in an international atmosphere. The Scientific Program will include areas of developmental biology study, such as: Evo-Devo, Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Development, Neurodevelopment and Neurodegeneration, Aging and Age-related Diseases, Plant and Animal Growth, Self-organization and Regeneration and Advances in Genome Research.

Programed sessions will focus on current, state-of-the-art research. It discusses recent results and future directions on representative developmental biology areas. This Research Topic aims to collect the products of this latest research, ideas and discussion arising from the participants in the meeting and welcomes contributions in the form of full-length original research articles and reviews, as well as brief research reports, mini-reviews, perspective and opinion pieces. This will showcase cutting edge research and ideas being cultivated in the region of developmental biology. Contributions from investigators all across the world are welcome.

Keywords: Development, Evo-Devo, Mechanisms of development, Neurodevelopment, Aging, Age-related disease, Developmental Genomics, Growth, Organoids, Regeneration

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
