Background

Decarbonization is one major task for power systems in the coming decades. Renewable energy is transforming power systems into a more decarbonized future but also increasing the interdependencies between power systems and climate conditions. Extreme climate conditions, e.g., unexpected or even disastrous climate and weather events, can highly impact renewable energy generation, transmission assets, electrical demand, power market progress, and other grid elements. It calls for preparedness, survivability, and recoverability of renewable energy-dominated power systems against extreme climate events, as "Climate Resilient Power Systems". Different from the general resilience-oriented control, operation, planning, and regulating "Climate Resilient Power Systems" requires holistic coordination between emerging renewable energy sources, power electronic devices, mobile resources, spatial and temporal flexible demands, power market, and other future power system technologies to accomplish the decarbonization mission.

The objective of this Research Topic is to identify methodologies, equipment, and architectures to enhance the climate resilience of power systems.
