Manuscript Submission Deadline 24 June 2022
Manuscript Extension Submission Deadline 22 July 2022

In the early 21st century, cardiovascular disease emerged as the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, a place which it continues to hold. Implantable medical devices find wide clinical applications, making an outstanding contribution to the treatment and management of cardiovascular diseases. Recent advancements in biomaterials and sensor technologies have opened new avenues for developing innovative cardiovascular implants with smart sensors and made significant progress technically, scientifically, and clinically. These insights are, in turn, pivotal for interdisciplinary research to push the boundaries of implantable cardiovascular devices and intelligent sensors with advanced medical diagnostic and therapeutic properties.

The goal of this Research Topic is to bring together a collection of both original research and review papers covering advanced technologies within all aspects of sensors and instrumentation in cardiovascular implants. A special issue dedicated to this topic will be an important contribution to the burgeoning field of new and innovative smart cardiovascular implants. It will positively influence the domain knowledge and practices to improve the human condition.

We welcome the submission of manuscripts to the Special Issue: Advanced Implantable Cardiovascular Sensors. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Smart implantable sensors for cardiovascular applications

• Design and micro-fabrication of implantable cardiovascular sensors and instrumentation

• Cardiovascular implantation and communications with implantable devices

• Advanced modalities for powering cardiovascular implantable sensors and devices

• Applications of printable/stretchable electronics in implantable cardiovascular sensors

Keywords: Cardiovascular, Implants, Invasive Devices, Sensors

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
