This Research Topic is Volume II of a series. The previous volume, which has attracted over 18,000 views can be found here: Advanced Technologies in Flow Dynamics and Combustion in Propulsion and Power.

The high demand for low CO2 emissions leads to clean fuels are hot study objects. However, the fuels used in existing propulsion and power plants, are still of conventional types, i.e., oil and natural gas. Thus, it is very important to reduce the CO2 emissions in propulsion and power plants. The most efficient way to reach this goal is to increase the efficiency of the propulsion and power plants and thus the consumption of the fuels will be reduced. Several subjects will be very important to increase propulsion and power plants' efficiency, i.e., aerodynamic design, heat transfer design, and combustion design. Thus, the research topic focuses on the advanced technologies in fluid flow dynamics and combustion in propulsion and power.

This Research Topic aims to cover a wide range of advanced technologies of fluid flow dynamics and combustion for reducing CO2 emissions by increasing the efficiency of existing propulsion and power plants, such as aero-engines, gas turbines, rockets, etc. These advanced studies will be beneficial for the development of traditional propulsion and power plants.

We welcome submissions in the following themes, but not limited to:
• Aerodynamics and flow control for turbomachinery
• Heat transfer and cooling for engine systems
• High-efficiency heat exchangers for propulsion and power
• High-efficiency aerodynamics at high Mach number
• Thermal management and thermodynamics engine system
• Fluid flow dynamics and combustion in propulsion and power

Keywords: advanced technologies, flow dynamics, combustion, propulsion and power, high efficiency, gas turbine, rocket

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
