Mental health plays an important role in the development of human beings also the stability of society. Especially, under the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic all over the world, attention should be paid to mental health and scientific mental health care. With the progress in computational intelligence, many artificial intelligence algorithms such as genetic algorithms, fuzzy systems, deep learning have been successfully applied to various fields including signal/image processing, data analysis, financial forecasting, etc.
Given the success of computational intelligence in engineering, business, and social problems, it is expected that they can also be properly used in mental health care. These machine learning and deep learning algorithms can be intelligently employed to process biomedical signals like electroencephalogram signals, facial expressions, emotions, behaviors, to capture the psychological state of a person. In addition, some forecasting and judgments can be made based on the historical data so the potential risk can be avoided to a large extent. Furthermore, the machine learning methods can greatly aid the design and validation of mental health care medicines, devices, and methods.
This Research Topic aims to collect original research and review articles using computational intelligence algorithms, especially the recent deep learning methods for mental health care. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
• New computational intelligence and deep learning algorithms for data analysis
• Computational intelligence in biomedical signal processing for mental health care
• Computational intelligence and deep learning in forecasting psychological state
• Computational intelligence for developing new psychological care methods
• Machine learning for developing medicines or devices for mental health care
• Deep learning and machine learning algorithms in the recommendation of treatment methods for mental health care
