Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. Better treatments for acute cardiovascular events, mean more people are living longer with CVD. People with CVD require a range of therapies from oral medications to implanted devices such as ventricular assist devices or defibrillators. The increasing prevalence of CVD means innovative approaches to treatment are required to improve patient quality of life while living with CVD. Medical applications of the principles of robotics are being investigated to advance the treatment of many conditions including CVD.

The goal of this Research Topic is to collate the most recent research in soft robotics for CVD. This collection of papers will represent an up-to-date repository for researchers in the soft robotics and CVD spaces, allowing them to see the most recent developments, which will in-turn inform advances in their own work. When collated, this collection of work, will provide a platform for the future development of soft robotics approaches for CVD.

We welcome the submission of manuscripts including, but not limited to, the following topics:

• Soft robotic approaches for the diagnosis, treatment or monitoring of cardiovascular diseases. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Soft robotic devices
- Soft robotic drug or cell delivery systems
- Soft robotic monitoring systems

• Studies performed in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo or those based on computational modeling will be welcomed
