About this Research Topic
Although the diagnostic process is frequently perceived as being complex, recent developments have vastly improved our understanding of these disorders, generating a considerable array of tools that can support clinicians in the diagnosis. The phenomenology of the clinical syndrome remains what guides the diagnosis but new classification systems and diagnostic criteria have been proposed for several movement disorders with the incorporation of novel method research.
The aim of the current Topic entitled “Gait disorders and Frailty in Parkinson's disease” welcomes the submission of original research papers, including clinical trials, quasi-experimental studies, cross-sectional studies, cohort studies, case-control studies, basic sciences, and diagnosis or reliability studies, as well as reviews or meta-analysis about current research literature on Gait disorders and frailty symptoms in PD.
The topics of interest are multidisciplinary, such as balance alterations, geriatrics, internal medicine, rheumatology, orthopedics, physical therapy, and primary and specialized care related to gait disabilities. The Guest Editors encourage authors from a wide range of disciplines to submit their proposals.
Keywords: Parkinson's disease, gait, frailty, movement disorders, kinematic analysis
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
