We are pleased to introduce the collection Model Organisms in Predictive Toxicology.

Classically used for biomedical studies, model organisms are progressively entering many disciplines within the pharmacology field.

Model organisms represent an invaluable resource for fundamental and applied research, allowing prediction studies, modeling, and the identification of action mechanisms. This article collection will showcase studies of Model Organisms that have significance to the field of Predictive Toxicology as a whole.

This Research Topic welcomes original research, reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives manuscripts within, but not limited to, the following areas:

1. Species specific information, and the relevance of the species to the field.

2. Comparative and analytical studies studying the reliability of model organisms when predicting toxicity in humans.

3. Analysis of model organisms and the dose-effect relationship of the toxicity of xenobiotics and other substances.

4. The use of model organisms in identifying the cellular and molecular pathways leading to toxicity.

Please note: Manuscripts submitted to the section must fall within the scope of the section. Please refer to authors notes.

Keywords: animals, bacteria, yeast, viruses, pharmacology, drug development, drug predictions, predictions, toxic, zebrafish, toxicity, #CollectionSeries

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
