About this Research Topic
It aims to introduce advanced studies on climate change and its detection and attribution, illustrate the complex relationships in the coupled climate-social system, and further propose effective adaptive measures for mitigation of climate change impacts. It is interdisciplinary research, by using diverse data sources including global climate models (GCMs) and regional climate models (RCMs), remote sensing and radar monitors, observed data and many others. Both physical modeling techniques and mathematical approaches, such as machine learning and deep learning will be used for the relevant research. Diverse impacts including hydrometeorological disasters, freshwater availability, land use and land change, urbanization, and disease outbreaks will be especially concerned in this Research Topic. Effective adaptive measures for mitigation of climate change impacts will be given finally based on comprehensive physical analysis and risk evaluations.
We welcome studies that address the impacts of climate changes on human living environment with a focus on:
• Climate changes and variations (temperature, precipitation, evapotranspiration and other climate factors)
• The features of the natural environment and their response to climate changes, such as water resources, vegetation, land use and land change
• Urbanization process and its response to climate change,
• Mortality and infectious diseases related to climate change
• Human well-being measurements in response to climate change
