Prevalence of diabetes mellitus has been dramatically rising with all its ocular complications. Early diagnosis is fundamental to prevent from diabetic-related ocular severe conditions leading blindness. The introduction in clinical practice of multimodal imaging modalities has allowed for a prompt diagnosis, strict follow up and early treatment of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macula edema, with the right management of this type of patients.
This Research Topic aims to create new starting points about diabetic disease pathogenesis and its ocular complications for an earlier and non-invasive diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
