About this Research Topic
Nanotechnology has come up as one of the solutions. Researchers are now finding ways to use nanotechnology in agriculture and food technology to meet the demands of the rising population while maintaining environmental sustainability. Researchers have come up with novel solutions to conventional problems. Inventions and discoveries like nano seed priming agents, nano urea, and novel food coatings and packaging are some of the examples of nanotech playing its part in agriculture and food innovation.
When we think of agriculture, we think of greenery. Little do we know that agriculture and its allied industries have one of the largest carbon footprints. In the race to achieve higher crop productivity, we are losing the race for environmental sustainability. Agriculture inputs lead to environmental degradation on a large scale. The hour to find solutions that strike a balance between higher productivity and environmental sustainability.
The field of nanotechnology has great promises to keep. Researchers are now finding new avenues and applications for nanotechnology. Nanomaterials have found applications in many different areas, including food and agriculture. Nanotechnology has found its way to improve crop production and post-harvest processing and packaging technologies. It can also be seen in enhancing the nutritional aspects of crops and food materials. The current call for papers aims to explore research that encompasses nanotechnology's application in food, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
