About this Research Topic
This editorial initiative of particular relevance, led by Prof Anirudha Sumant, Specialty Chief Editor of the Diamond and Diamond-Like Carbon section, is focused on new advances, insights, novel developments, current challenges, latest discoveries, and future perspectives in the field of Diamond and Diamond-like carbon materials.
The Research Topic solicits brief, forward-looking contributions that describe the state of the art, recent developments and major accomplishments in the field. Authors are encouraged to submit original new contributions as well as review articles in the following broad area but are not limited to:
• Synthesis and Characterization of structural, mechanical, chemical, electronic, thermal, optical and transport properties
• Nucleation and growth mechanisms
• Diamond-based MEMS/NEMS
• Diamond as a platform for quantum science
• Diamond for power electronics and heterointegration
• Diamond and DLC for biomedical and electrochemical applications
• Macro, Micro and nanoscale tribology
• Technologies and applications
Studies using and/or combining experimental, theoretical and modeling approaches are welcomed.
The goal of this special edition Research Topic is to shed light on the progress made during the past decade within the broad and multidisciplinary field of carbon materials and on any perceived future challenges that may have emerged in recent years to provide a thorough overview of the status of the field. This article collection will inspire, inform and provide direction and guidance to researchers in the field.
Keywords: diamond, carbon, diamond-like carbon
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
