Due to diet restrictions and frequent body fluid loss, diabetic patients often have a nutritional deficiency, especially deficiency in micronutrients. Besides these, the maintenance of normal protein levels is also necessary for better management of diabetes and its associated complications. On the other hand, nutritional and health status including overweight, obesity, lack of physical activity etc are known to be some of the causative factors of diabetes and micronutrient deficiencies are likely to exacerbate the complications of diabetes. Nutritional guidelines for diabetic patients are not only important for management of diabetes but also to ensure that they build and improve personal health.

The proposed special issue aims at providing a single platform to the leading scientists, clinicians and behavior scientists engaged in the field of diabetes and nutrition to share their findings and opinions on the subject. Potential authors are encouraged to contribute their findings/research relevant to the theme of this special issue in the form of original research, meta-analysis, opinion, commentary, review articles and perspective.

The indicative list of topics that can be part of this special theme-based issue may include, but not limited to:
• Process to identify, evaluate, and synthesize the research into nutritional guidelines for diabetic patients
• Development and validation of Nutritional Guidelines for Diabetic Patients
• Dietary Guidelines for Diabetics
• Knowledge Attitudes, Practices regarding the nutritional guidelines among the diabetics and their caregivers
• Factors that can promote and hinder adherence to nutritional guidelines
• Impact evaluation of adherence to nutritional guidelines
• Review and revision of existing guidelines or the need thereof in the context of emerging evidence.
