The application of electromagnetic fields for heating and cooling inside of the human body, as well as for more complex local magnetoelectrical and magnetostriction impact on cell level, has been a subject of active research in recent years. Since the end of the 19th century, the advantages of the utilization of electromagnetic energy in the field of clinical medicine have been clearly demonstrated. These medical applications that are explored have unique capabilities and include magnetic hyperthermia, Parkinson's, wireless magnetothermal stimulation to explore nerves, and more. Many excellent scientists, doctors, and engineers are currently involved in researching this topic and capturing the attention of readers of top IP journals.

The advantages of magnetothermal technology in medicine have attracted a large number of researchers to study different aspects of this topic. However, most of the work is currently still at the laboratory stage, and it is necessary to conduct in-depth research. The goal of this Research Topic is to accumulate knowledge about the possible impact of local thermal processes (heating and cooling) inside the human body on the treatment of different diseases, such as cancer, drug delivery and activation of various mechanisms at the cellular level. And, thus, make one step ahead to the application of these technologies in real clinical practice. This Research Topic will be devoted to the most modern magnetothermal materials and technologies which will allow for promising clinical results.

We are inviting researchers, engineers and physicians to participate in this Research Topic, researching the possibility of using electromagnetic fields for heating or cooling inside the human body, for the treatment of various diseases, and for drug release activation of processes inside the body at the cellular level point. At first, we would like to focus on the in-vitro and in-vivo research of the thermal properties of nanoparticles, nanostructures and other nanomaterials, such as aggregates, which are important for clinical applications, and on the impact of these thermal processes inside of body. Areas of study include, but are not limited to, magnetic hyperthermia, Parkinson's, wireless magnetothermal stimulation, and more. Special attention will be paid to physical and chemical advanced magnetothermal mechanisms for significant increasing of efficiency of transformation of the energy of electromagnetic field to heat. Secondly, it is planned to pay significant attention to the sources of the electromagnetic field, the design of which allows for the making of more compact aggregates (less weight and size), with higher specific energy characteristics and less power supply. This may open door to wider clinical practices.
