About this Research Topic
For this reason, governments and private companies have developed multiple actions to promote sustainable transport among citizens. The ways of providing mobility solutions to users must be flexible in order to adapt to the needs of different contexts. Thus, among the strategies that have been developed are traffic management, planning laws and regulations, communication campaigns to promote clean, healthy, and sustainable mobility, and the introduction of intelligent and connected transport systems.
The aim of this Research Topic is to collect highly relevant scientific contributions on aspects related to communication and connectivity for sustainable mobility. Research articles, case studies and systematic reviews on actions developed to change users' attitudes and modes of transport by both private and public entities are welcomed.
In particular, we will consider contributions related to communication and social marketing campaigns in this sector, policies and programmes for the promotion of sustainable mobility, and the development of recommendations for policymakers on the implementation of measures. We also welcome contributions on the impact of connectivity (vehicle-to-vehicle -V2V- and vehicle-to-infrastructure -V2I- wireless communications) on mobility and sustainable transport.
We welcome submissions to cover topics including, but not limited to, the following:
• Programmes and interventions for the improvement of sustainable mobility;
• Instruments for the governance of mobility: traffic management and planning policies related to communications;
• Communication strategies to enhance the sustainable mobility of citizens;
• Evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies in directing citizens to more sustainable forms of mobility: Does this translate to long-term behaviour changes, and what constitutes a successful strategy?;
• Measuring the success of communication campaigns in relation to different cultural and socioeconomic groups;
• Solutions for inclusive, universal mobility adapted to the needs of all citizens;
• Collective public transport and Personal Mobility Vehicles;
• Digitalisation of transport: including intelligent transport systems;
• Open data and user-vehicle-infrastructure connectivity in cities;
• Evaluation of successful experiences for the improvement of sustainable mobility;
• Perceptions, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours of road users;
• Effectiveness of campaigns to enhance sustainable mobility: communication strategies, discourse, content and message;
• Role of traditional media and social media in the dissemination of communication campaigns and measures for sustainable mobility;
• Power structures involved in the production of communication campaigns for sustainable mobility.
