Mental Health Disorders, such as depression and anxiety, can develop at an early stage of life and persist across the lifespan. For this reason, there is a need for clinicians and scientists to adopt a developmental perspective that increases our understanding of children's behavioral, social and emotional changes over time, as well as relevant mediating and moderating factors.
The aim of this Research Topic is to increase our understanding of mental health issues from a developmental perspective.
We welcome developmental studies using a range of methodological designs focusing on:
- The social, biological and cultural factors that affect development;
- The protective and risk factors of mental health disorders;
- The progress of early-onset mental health issues.
Studies using a range of methodological designs (e.g., cross-sectional, longitudinal) are encouraged.
Keywords:
developmental psychiatry, longitudinal studies, cross-sectional studies
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
