Sacral neuromodulation started as minimal invasive therapy for refractory overactive bladder, non obstructive retention and frequency urgency syndrome, but with time it showed more benefits and was used as off-label use in other non FDA yet approved conditions. New techniques and options are now being developed, with new implications for patients, and need to be explored. The aim of our Research Topic is therefore to focus on the off-label uses, new techniques, new therapies and new target patients who can benefit from different neuromodulation therapies.

The scope of this Research Topic includes, but is not limited to, new modalities and technologies in neuromodulation, including peudendal nerve stimulation and posterior tibial nerve stimulation, new target groups such as pediatric age neuromodulation and in neurogenic bladder, and the role of neuromodulation pelvic pain syndrome. This can include animal experiments.

Keywords: Sacral Neuromodulation, Pelvic Neuromodulation, Neurourology, Animal Experiments, Pelvic Pain Syndrome

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
