About this Research Topic

Manuscript Submission Deadline 20 October 2023
Manuscript Extension Submission Deadline 20 November 2023

Human movement is a complex behavior within a specific context. The measurement and study of human movement is a fundamental part of many science and medicine disciplines but accurately measuring human motion is a challenging task, even in controlled laboratory environments. Actigraphy and video camcorder analyses, which are standard methods for detecting movements, as well as wearable sensors or contactless radar sensors have been the subject of investigations. Signal and image processing allows for extracting motion features from collected data. It enables the statistical evaluation of their variability depending on different conditions and the development of artificial intelligence methods to detect movement disturbances automatically.

The goal of this Research Topic is to bring together a collection of papers that used technological devices for evaluation of movement in pediatric populations. Results achieved could help a clinicians with diagnosis and therapy planning but also explore new dependencies in human motion data.

We welcome the submission of manuscripts on using marker-based and/or markerless motion analysis systems for movement assessment and movement disorders therapy in pediatric populations.

Keywords: technology, movement, infants, children, adolescents

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
