Polymers can have more comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic applications as they show exceptional properties not offered by any other material. Polymers can be mixed with other materials with high and low molecular weights, and they can be designed to bind with these materials with different strengths. These improvements in polymer science have opened opportunities for using a wide variety of polymeric materials as drug-delivery systems. For this reason, attentive knowledge of designing polymeric materials is needed for obtaining better delivery systems.
Currently, the main challenge in drug delivery is discovering new approaches to permit high efficiency of delivery at the target site, with a delivery vehicle that breaks all the barriers to effectively deliver the therapeutic agents. Polymers with diverse applications in the pharmaceutical and nanotechnology fields are potentially suitable materials in the construction and design of nano-preparations to achieve this goal.
The ultimate goal of polymeric nanotechnology is to provide a therapeutically active amount of drug at the target site at a constant rate with minimal variation between individuals. The aim of this article collection is to rapidly publish innovative and high-quality manuscripts covering all aspects of polymeric technology and polymer-based drug development.
We welcome the submission of Original Research, Review, Mini Review, and Perspective articles on themes including, but not limited to:
• Polymeric compounds, both natural and synthetic
• Characterization of polymeric materials Polymeric compounds, both natural and synthetic
• Polymeric Materials
• Polymer nanocomposites, and their use of polymers in drug delivery, multifunctional polymers.
• Technological use of polymers in pharmaceuticals, biosensors, medicine, energy, and optoelectronics.
• Novel findings on polymer-based DDS and their diagnostic and therapeutic effects, with an understanding of the related structural and molecular properties and applications.
